Open University of Sri Lanka is one of the state-owned Open and Distance learning university in Sri Lanka and this institute was established in 1980, under the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 and OUSL Ordinance No. 1 of 1990 .

Faculty of Engineering Technology offers a variety of study programmers leading to the awards of Certificates, Advanced Certificates, Higher Diplomas, Honors Bachelor Degrees, and Postgraduate Diplomas and Degrees under Engineering and Industry related programmes.

Following are the Entrance Qualification for enter in to following specialized areas of Bachelor of Industrial Studies Honors undergraduate degree programmes.
Applicant need to get Pass three subject of G.C.E Advanced level local curriculum on one sitting.
or
Obtain 36 Credits from any Foundation course conducted at Open University of Sri Lanka
or
Successfully Complete the Certificate of Industrial Studies Program.
For Agriculture Studies
Applicant need to Pass three subject of G.C.E Advanced level local curriculum in Biology/Botany and Passes in any two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Combined Mathematics, Agriculture
or
36 credits from the foundation programme conducted at Faculty of Natural Sciences or Faculty of Engineering Technology of the Open University of Sri Lanka which including Biology/Botany subjects.
Level’s of Bachelor of Industrial Studies Degree
The Bachelor of Industrial Studies Program include Four Levels such as follows.
- Level 3 (1st year)
- Level 4 (2nd year)
- Level 5 (3rd year)
- Level 6 (4th year)
The Study program of Bachelor of Industrial Studies is designed by considering the all aspect of industrial and engineering needs. There are necessary relevant laboratory classes and other computer related program conducted with this program also.
