The University of Colombo MSc in Environment Science course is conducted by the Department of Zoology, University of Colombo which comprising both e-learning and conventional mode of delivery. MSc in Environment Science is specially designed to cater to a wide range of interested persons such as biologists, chemists, mathematicians, economists, engineers, geographers and sociologists, among others.Apart of M.Sc in Environment Science degree there are two postgraduate programmes conducted by this institute.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change and Environmental Management
- Postgraduate Diploma in Ecotoxicology and Pollution Management
The lesson material will be provided on-line with some face-to-face sessions. There is a special Learning Management System (LMS) available and student can view lecture slide, access course content and submit assignments by logging on to this Learning Management System. Entrance Eligibility Qualifications for University of Colombo MSc
Those who are wishing to enter in to follow Colombo University Msc program on environment science much fulfil following educational requirements.
B.Sc. degree in any of the following fields: Biological Sciences, Forestry & Environmental Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences, or any other relevant field, obtained from a recognized university
OR
Equivalent qualification/s acceptable to the senate of the University of Colombo
Selection Procedure:
The candidates will be selected based on formal qualifications and through an interview which conducted by the panel of university of colombo
Duration:
MSc in Environment Science Course comprises of two academic years
Lectures and laboratory sessions conducted on weekends (on Saturdays and some Sundays). This M.Sc program also consists of theory, laboratory and field work.
Application Procedure:
Every application for enrolment must be on the prescribed forms obtainable from the University of Colombo on the payment of a non-refundable fee.
MSc in Environment Science Degree Awarding Criteria:
The candidates are required to obtain a GPA of 2.50 or above, and complete any other requirements as specified, to be eligible for the award of the MSc in Environment Science. Candidates who obtain a GPA in the range of 2.00 – 2.49 for Part I shall be eligible for the award of the Diploma, where applicable.
