Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute is one of the leading institute for higher education in Ayuruweda education in Sri lanka and this institute was located in Yakkala. This institute was commenced by Ayurveda Cakrawarti Pandith G.P. Wickramarachchi in 1928 and In 1982 Vidyalaya was incorporated as Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Vidyalaya under the ministry of Indigenous Medicine by the parliamentary act No 30, in 1982. Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute currently offers the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree, a six-year course including one year internship training in state hospitals. There are highly experienced Adamic staff available on this institute and those who got good grades on Science stream can enter in to follow Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree under Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute.
