Sri lanka German Railway Technical Training Center conduct four training programs by national apprentices and Technical Training Institute and the Department of Railways. There is a huge demand for those who studying courses under this institute and those who successfully completed courses at Sri lanka German Railway Technical Training Center got so many job opportunities in Sri Lanka and aboard. Following are some of the details of these programms.
Education Qualifications to Enter Sri lanka German Railway Technical Training Center
Those who are wishing to enter in to above course must obtain any of following qualifications to enroll with this programme.
Applicant should get pass G. C. E. Ordinary Level 6 subjects including Language (Sinhala/Tamil/English) , Mathematics with credit passes for two other subjects
Pass G. C. E. advanced level in Science/ Mathematics stream in one sitting.
Both males and females between 16 – 25 years are eligible to follow the programs.
Training Programmes
The apprentice those who get select for Sri Lankan German Railway Technical Training center have to spend training program by following
- Diesel Engine Mechanic 2 1/2 years (NVQ 4 will be upgraded to NVQ 6)
- Welder 03 years (NVQ 4 will be upgraded to NVQ 6)
- Electrician (power) 03 1/2 years (NVQ 4 will be upgraded to NVQ 6)
- Mechanic setter 03 1/2 years (NVQ 4 will be upgraded to NVQ 6)
All applicants who sucssfully selected for training in the Sri Lanka German Railway Technical Training Centre should enter into an agreement with the national apprentices and Technical Training Institute and the Department of Railways.
Selection Procedure
25 students for each courses shown following will be selected to follow the programme. Candidate who needs to join need to face written exam which contain general knowledge and those who scored highest marks at written exam will be faced for interview test under each course.Selection for each Vocations courses mentioned above will be made on the results of the highest marks obtained both at the written and practical test.
The Sri Lanka Railways Department is not bound to give employment to the apprentices after training but there are more chances to get employable chances for those who follow the porgram at Sri Lankan Railways or any other government or Private sector.
