According to z-score, there are two ways to get selected which are district quota system and merit basis system. District Quota System( 55%)
District quota system is the method that most of the students are entering into Sri Lankan university system. There is 25 administrative district take into calculation on this system. There is a ratio taken in to account of the total population of the district to the total population of the country. This quote is given in a particular district under that all island merit system.
Merit-Based System (40%)
In this system, the Z score ranked based on All Island Merit system. In order to that 40% of the top students are getting chance to get admission to National universities.

There is a quota of 5% under 16 district of Sri Lanka for those who are an educationally disadvantaged district.
