According to z-score, there are two ways to get selected which are district quota system and merit basis system. Following are several proven criteria which use to get enroll into national universities of Sri Lanka.

District Quota System( 55%)

District quota system is the method that most of the students are entering into Sri Lankan university system. There is 25 administrative district take into calculation on this system. There is a ratio taken in to account of the total population of the district to the total population of the country. This quote is given in a particular district under that all island merit system.

Merit-Based System (40%)

In this system, the Z score ranked based on All Island Merit system. In order to that 40% of the top students are getting chance to get admission to National universities.

Educationally Disadvantaged District Quota (5%)

There is a quota of 5% under 16 district of Sri Lanka for those who are an educationally disadvantaged district. The students who in a low privileged district of Sri Lanka get good chance to get enrolled in Sri Lanka university system by this method. The university grant commission also published a document which mentions minimum Z score value for a different course from each district. When your Z score is more than that value it means that you are eligible to get enrolled in that course in your field applied.
